Our tutors and staff in West Richardson consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed.     Samantha Flores

    Director Of Education

    Samantha oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors in West Richardson. She graduated from the University of North Texas. When Samantha isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her painting, cooking, or running.
  • Cheryl Shepperd, Teacher

    Cheryl Shepperd


    Cheryl Shepperd is a Reading, Writing, and Upper Level Math Tutor at the West Richardson location. She currently works at Serenity High school teaching all subjects of mathematics. While Cheryl has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy fostering a love and appreciation for math with her students. She studied at Texas State University at San Marcos and has her certification in secondary math for grades 6-12. When Cheryl isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her participating in church activities, reading, and baking.
  • Christi Gentry, Teacher

    Christi Gentry


    Christi is an Inclusion Specialist in the Dallas school district. She graduated from Central State University with her K-12 special education certification. Christi loves every aspect of teaching and was raised in a family in which many members are teachers! In her spare time, Christi is a very active and proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., which focuses on volunteerism and provides academic scholarships for women to further their education. 
  • Aungenae Davenport, Teacher

    Aungenae Davenport


    Aungenae is a 6th grade English Teacher at Hudson Middle School. She graduated from Lamar University with a Master’s Degree in Education and a certification to teach ELAR 4-8 grade. Aungenae enjoys being able to differentiate her instruction to match all learning needs and show kids that there are many ways to master reading. When not at Sylvan, Aungenae spends her time singing karaoke, cooking, and traveling. 
  • Kati Farabaugh, Teacher

    Kati Farabaugh


    Kati is a teacher at Sylvan of West Richardson with a passion for reading and writing education. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Kati holds teaching certifications for Early Childhood-6th grade, ESL and Special Education. She currently teaches at McSpedden Elementary. Kati became a teacher to help students grow, and loves building relationships with the kids. When not at Sylvan, you’ll find Kati running, reading, doing pilates, and spending time with her husband and dogs. 
  • Dillon Dickson, Teacher

    Dillon Dickson


    Dillon is teacher at Sylvan of West Richardson with a gift for working with kids. While Dillon has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in teaching history, writing and College Prep. He is a graduate of the University of North Texas, and works in education in order to make positive impact and a difference in students' lives. When Dillon isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him cycling, cooking and listening to music.
  • Aalaa Al-Saad , Teacher

    Aalaa Al-Saad


    Aalaa is a reading and language arts teacher at Sylvan of West Richardson with a passion for helping students succeed. She earned her BA in English Literature at Qatar University and is currently completing her Master's degree in English at the University of Sheffield. She also has experience teaching math and science at the elementary and intermediate levels. Her favorite thing about teaching is seeing the children's eyes light up when they understand new concepts. When not at Sylvan, you'll find Aalaa horseback riding, hiking and drawing horses! 
  • Mary Addison, Teacher

    Mary Addison


    Mary is a teacher at Sylvan of West Richardson with a gift for working with kids! She earned her Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education from Louisiana State University and holds teaching certificates in EC-6th grade all subjects and ESL. She loves to teaching reading, and works hard to foster a love of learning in her students. Her favorite thing about teaching is seeing the light bulbs go off when the concepts really click for student. When not at Sylvan, you'll find Mary reading, crafting, playing disc golf, and playing with her pets. 
  • Betsy Burrell, Teacher

    Betsy Burrell


    Betsy is a teacher at Sylvan Learning of West Richardson. She earned her BA in Music from Texas Woman's University and taught music at Dover Elementary in Richardson for 16 years. She loves connecting with students, and is a great addition to our team. When not at Sylvan, Betsy loves to watch movies, read, listen to all types of music and play with her dogs. She also sews and collects gemstones.
