Meet our Winston-Salem Tutoring Staff

Meredith joined the Sylvan Learning team in 2001 and is the Executive Director at Sylvan Learning  in Burlington, Charlotte, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem, NC.  She comes to Sylvan with a degree in Psychology from UNC Wilmington. She has held a variety of positions throughout her Sylvan career and decided in 2003 to make Burlington her home. Her favorite thing about her position is watching each student's confidence grow and changing the "I can't" attitude to "I can."

As center director, Michelle is responsible for managing the overall customer experience, sales, and local marketing strategies of the center. She is also responsible for managing the daily operations to ensure a consistent, quality educational experience for Sylvan customers. A former Assistant Principal, Michelle chose a career in the tutoring business to continue to spend quality educational time with students. She attended Southern Connecticut State University. 

Jessica oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors in Winston Salem. She is responsible for delivering a high-quality personal customer experience. A former special education teacher in Winston Salem, Jessica brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan of Winston Salem. She graduated from Appalachian State University. 

Julie Gunshenan moved to North Carolina in 1999. She taught eighth-grade English for two years and ninth-grade English for one year. Now, she teaches at Surry Community College. Julie has a Master’s in English Education from Millersville University and a Graduate Certificate in Communications from Walden University. When not teaching, she enjoys reading, quilting, and cooking. She has been at Sylvan since 2002.

Carly is a Reading and Math Tutor in Winston-Salem, NC with a gift for working with kids. While Carly has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in English and Essay Writing tutoring. She studied at UNC Wilmington. When Carly isn't at Sylvan, you'll find her reading books, baking, cross-stitching, and playing with her dogs.
