Meet Our Team

Ms. Heather oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors in Yorba Linda, CA.  A former Director of the ESL (English as a Second Language) Program at the ISB International School of Basel in Bottmingen, Switzerland, and teaching English at Wall Street School of English, Heather brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan of Yorba Linda, CA.  She graduated from Pepperdine Graduate School of Education and Psychology with honors, her Teaching Credential, and an M.A. in Education.  She also received her B.A. in Art from CSULB.  When Heather isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her enjoying the arts, foreign languages, travel, and the great outdoors.

Mr. Toby is a gifted Mathematics/STEM tutor specializing in AP Chemistry, AP Physics,  Biology, AP Macroeconomics, and Mandarin Chinese. We are proud to have him in our Yorba Linda, CA learning center! Toby goes above and beyond for our students and sees their progress on a daily basis as extremely rewarding. Toby received his Bachelor of Science in Poli Sci/ Data Analytics from UCSD. He finds the staff very supportive, nice, and affable within a team-minded environment, providing excellent guidance for him and his students. Toby’s “Hi-Five!” is at receiving at least one laugh or smile from each student before they walk out.

We are proud to introduce our Special Ed. and Reading tutor, Ms. Rylee! She graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and minored in Special Education in 2022. She offers years of expertise working with children and volunteer work.  In the past, she expanded her collegiate field studies via The Boys and Girls Club, was an ABA therapist, and more. Ms. Rylee’s favorite subjects are literature and English. In her free time, she loves to read, hike, and be outdoors.

Mr. Josh proudly helps tutor our awesome students and supports our amazing staff as our Office Assistant! After graduating from Biola University in 2020 with a BA in Psychology, he continued on to receive two (!) Master’s degrees in Organizational Psychology and Business Administration from the University of Hartford.  Mr. Josh’s experience includes serving as a Teaching Assistant, independent tutor, and Adjunct Professor.  He believes that investing in our students today is the most important thing we should be doing for our future!  Mr. Josh’s favorite subjects are psychology, literature, and math.  In his free time, he can be spotted at sports events, a concert, or Disneyland!
